This recording is a stereo mixdown of the three channel sound element of my installation Untitled (2010).The recording is a composed collection of sounds from discarded reel-to-reel tapes dating from the 1950s to the 1970s: people singing nursery rhymes and popular songs alongside hiss, hum and crackle from the analogue recording process.

These recordings were featured in my 2010 installation, Three Artefacts. Each recording was made during my artist’s residency at The Rea Garden, in Digbeth, Birmingham. The installation featured each sound playable from individually pressed dubplates; viewers were invited to use the records individually or in combination to compose their own piece of music. The recordings are also available on limited edition individual dubplates, here.
