New composition on Canadian radio CKDU 88.1 FM
This Friday, 5th November, I have a new composition being played on CKDU 88.1 FM for the 2010 Broadcasting For Reels: Success Through Failure audio art broadcast, which was organised by the Centre for Art Tapes, also based in Canada.
The piece is called ccident and was made in response to the concept of Success Through Failure. It features sounds from modified records, field recordings pressed to dubplates, a cymbal, marbles and stylus feedback: an improvised performance led by mistakes, with some minimal editing to create a new composition.
The programme will be aired on 88.1 FM across Canada and also available to listen live and to download from the CKDU website at ckdu.ca. The show, featuring sonic artists from across the globe, goes live between 8pm and 9:30pm, Canadian time. (According to my calculations that’s 11pm til 12:30am, UK time.)
Many thanks to Lucas Dambergs who curated the show and all at the Centre for Art Tapes for the opportunity.
