Mechanical Techno at Raw Power Festival (London)

A righteous psychic celebration of sound and fury that draws together the cream of the underground, Raw Power draws on the fiery worlds of psychedelia, heaviosity, electronic innovation and avant-garde inspiration, and both 2014 and 2015 saw visionary artists from across the globe converge on Tufnell Park to take part in weekends that fried brains and realigned perspectives in equal measure.

Heads from both close by and as far afield as Mexico, Scandinavia and Holland have traversed to The Dome and the Boston Arms music room to bear witness as the greatest UK synapse-shifters – the like of The Cosmic Dead, Gnod, Bo Ningen, Hey Colossus and Teeth Of The Sea – locked horns with legendary amp-absers from far and wide such as Acid Mothers Temple, KK Null, Earthless, Circle and Richard Pinhas with some of the best new bands like Girl Band, Good Throb, Sex Swing & Flamingods.

What’s more, far from resting on its laurels, Raw Power has bigger and better things planned for 2016 – the next years event will feature an expansion into the Boston Arms pub itself, where further acts and a DJ programme will add further chaos and glory to proceedings, not to mention wider options of food & drink and extra seating to add to the extensive merch section and outdoor area that drive the affair’s relaxed and convivial atmosphere.

To paraphrase Iggy himself – in the song from whence this affair’s name came – let’s dance to the beat of the living dead, once more.
